Chomsky. No Place Like Gnome.

Some lawn ornaments get a little out of hand.

Most garden gnomes quietly disappear into the landscaping. Chomsky does not. Standing tall over Kelder’s Farm in Kerhonkson, this concrete giant is reportedly the world’s largest garden gnome—and subtlety clearly wasn’t part of the plan.

Created by artist Maria Reidelbach with help from fellow artists, Chomsky has become the oversized mascot of the farm. Depending on the season, you might find him holding flowers, wrapped in Christmas lights, or even wearing a life jacket after local flooding. Most lawn ornaments stop at cheerful. Chomsky apparently has character development.

Towering above the fields in full red-hatted glory, he’s less “tiny woodland creature” and more “mythical roadside landlord.” Which, honestly, feels like the natural evolution of the garden gnome anyway.
